Templates
Today we went over a WebQuest template. I wish the class was a little longer only to create a WebQuest. I am going to work on one after class is over for my own class. The template my professor provided has every section, on an outline, with tips of what should go there. I am going to make my template BCIS related as that is what I currently teach.

Integrating Technology TEKS with your content
Today we looked at the Technology TEKS and how we can or have integrated them into our own TEKS. I had an easy time with this as my class is a technology class where every student has their own computer to use. I understand that technology is easy for me to implement given my situation but I also find ways to integrate content are assignments with the use of technology. If I can find interactive activities with Math then so can the Math teacher for example. I am not the type of teacher who is territorial with my classroom. I suggest teachers come to my classroom and make use of the computer lab during my planning period or when I am helping with the PE class. We need to remember we are all a team.

Interactive Power Point
July 15, 2008 - Class assignment
Today we covered how to create interactive Power Points. This opened up my eyes to even more possibilities with this software. It basically links icons on the master page so you can access other pages with information. It is sort of like a web page with links. I would love to use it as an introduction to classroom policies and procedures. I am so happy I have all these new ideas I can use in the class.

WebQuests
Today we covered what is expected for our resource guides. We also covered what WebQuests are and how they work. I will definitely use WebQuests for projects as I believe it will make the class more interactive. I like the fact that WebQuests organize everything for you and allow the students to have a soft copy, of what the assignment is and what is expected, at any time. This information is very helpful!

Copyrights
July 10, 2008
Today we explored different websites over copyrighting. One site that I found particularly helpful was the copyright 101 for educators website at http://www.wtvi.com/teks/02_03_articles/copyright.html. It suggests helpful information when using pictures, articles, or graphic organizers from the web. This is a big deal that is overlooked in most schools as it effects students as well as teachers.

Researching
July 8, 2008
Today we talked about how to use different researching skills. I know a fair amount of tricks when using the computer but I did not know the tricks we learned in the “Seven Step” process from http://webquest.sdsu.edu/searching/sevensteps2001.html. It was very helpful to know that words could be taken out of a search with a minus sign. I will definitely use this site in my class as my students have a hard time researching for projects.

ETEC 557
Hola, my name is Rudy Alvarez. I teach BCIS at The School of Liberal Arts and Science. It is located south west of downtown Dallas. I teach BCIS to 9th and 10th graders. I enjoy what I do as computers and business are related to almost every subject. We have fun with computers and use them in business settings that will allow the students to be creative.
